There are always a heap of issues that people in my local area are concerned about. Whether or not the new housing development nearby is going to spoil the environment, can the new sports stadium really be allowed to have a bar open until 4am... etc etc...

There are always local issues which need debate and where local people feel strongly about an issue, but powerless to coordinate action to make their voice heard. "I'm a tiny fish in a big pond". You most probably know of an issue right now in your area in which people would like to have something changed or stopped altogether.

The idea of the site is that it would unite people behind a certain cause. In that sense it would be like, say, Google Groups. This would go further offering ideas for how to make the protest more effective. Tips from successful campaigns of the past, how to use the media/internet to unite and spread the message. The site would act as a centre for the campaign allowing people to sign up and follow the lastest twists and turns of the protest. Phone, email, social media information could be shared therefore allowing people to be in touch with interested parties much more successfully than the current system of walking the streets and pushing notices through doors. It could offer templates for posters which you could amend to distribute locally though!

Areas of expertise could be shared and the job of organising the campaign all done online, without the need for meeting in person every time a decision needs to be made.

I think that this idea for a site needs more thought, and so I would welcome your comments below.

    Thanks.
